A large turnout of project supporters is requested for this meeting, as well as a follow-up meeting and vote (to hire a trails consultant) by the El Paso Board of County Commissioners on Thursday morning, May 1, at 9 am. 2/20/2008 - CALL TO ACTION The State Parks Board will be reviewing the future of the El Paso County OHV Park this coming Friday, February 22, 2008, during the State Park Board Meeting at 10 a.m. at the Embassy Suites, 7290 Commerce Center Drive, Colorado Springs (Woodmen and I-25) - Ballroom Section C. If you are available, it is very important that the OHV community show up and demonstrate support for this project! The opposition will be there in large numbers and we need to show that we are equally as passionate about this project!
2/11/2008 - The Grant request for the El Paso County OHV Park has CONDITIONALLY PASSED the State Trails Committee.
2/8/2008 - Reportedly, the OHV Park Sub-Committee grant review for this project was well-received. The next step is the State Trails Committee meeting that will be conducted on Monday, February 11, at the Larimer County Courthouse, 200 West Oak Street, Carter and Boyd Lake Rooms (north end of the 1st floor). There will be a public comments session from 10:15 - 11:15 am, and then the committee will discuss the grant applications from 1:00 - 1:55 pm. It would be very helpful for members of the support group to attend the meeting. If you plan to speak during the public comments section, you will need to arrive before 10 am and sign in. Each person will have 3 minutes to speak.
Also, pledges have exceeded $26,000! THANK YOU!!
2/7/2008 - Public comment on this project was delayed until Friday, Feb. 8, at 3:00 pm, at the same location as the grant review meeting listed below.

El Paso County will make its presentation to the OHV Subcommittee on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 1:20 pm. The public will most likely not be permitted to comment during the actual presentation. However, your attendence would be helpful to show support for the project. The OHV Grant Review committee may elect to conduct a public comments session at the conclusion of the grant presentations. If you are available, your participation in the public comment session would be extremely beneficial. The grant review will be at the BLM Colorado State Office, 2850 Youngfield Street, Lakewood, CO. Please join us on Thursday if you can.
1/29/2008 - Please be aware that the OHV Grant Review Committee may elect to conduct a public comments session at the conclusion of the OHV grant presentations. If so, it is anticipated that the session will be conducted on Thursday, February 7, in the late afternoon at the BLM Colorado State Office, 2850 Youngfield Street, Lakewood, CO. If you are interested and available to attend to address the El Paso County grant application, please pencil in this date and time and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
Also, we noticed on several public motorcycle forums that some people are planning on attending the neighborhood meeting that another group has publicized on their web site, happening at the Falcon Fire Station, on Thursday night, January 31. At this time, we would discourage OHV enthusiasts from attending, unless you are an enthusiast and live in the neighborhood and want to show your support. Several very capable representatives from this group will be there, mostly to listen, and it would be unfortunate if a negative incident erupted from this meeting. Let's face it - emotions are running high on both sides, and we really feel that it would be more appropriate and fruitful to have your voice heard by the OHV subcommittee, Colorado State Parks, your County Commissioners and your State Representatives. Please look for their contact information (coming soon) on the LINKS page.
1/28/2008 - Congratulations! As of 12:25 this afternoon, financial pledges from the OHV community reached $21,365! We met our goal! Hopefully, reaching this goal won't deter any would-be pledgers from continuing the momentum. If you want to show your support and be recognized as a supporter, please continue to send your pledges to Tim Wolken at the email address listed on the pledge page. But this officially ends anyone here asking you to pledge money. The next time you will be contacted about money will hopefully be from El Paso County Parks and Leisure Services, after a successful grant application process!
1/25/2008 - Pledge total is at $18,730. The OHV community is rising to the occasion!
1/24/2008 - Pledge total is at $14,050.
01/23/2008 - El Paso County Parks and Leisure Services Director Tim Wolken held a status update meeting at the Bear Creek Nature Center. About 70 people, mostly OHV enthusiasts, turned out for this meeting. Tim reported that the project proposal was progressing well, but that private pledge donations were still needed. At the time of the meeting, private pledges were at $6000 (out of an anticipated $20,000).
