OHV Park opponents have suggested that the creation of an OHV Park at Corral Bluffs will destroy the very rare Cretaceous-Tertiary geologic exposure in Colorado. This map shows the relative size of the OHV Park compared to the amount of Cretaceous-Tertiary zone that can be found throughout Colorado, including the heavily built-up Denver area. The park is highlighted in green, in the magnified portion of the map, and the Cretaceous-Tertiary exposures are brought forward on the map and colored brown. The parks initial estimated size is 522 acres. 20 miles of 18-24" wide trail are proposed to be somewhere within this 522 acres. That's only 3.6 - 4.8 acres of trail surface, or less than 1% of the green polygon shown on the map below. It's also less than 1/4 of the amount of trail surface that would exist if the park were built strictly for walking, as El Paso County's standard width for walking trails is 8 - 10 feet. Geologic Map
